Flow™
The tools
of Flow Processing and Lean techniques have been used for
decades in manufacturing. Post implementation benefits have been well documented.
These implementation methods
include the creation of Process Flow Diagrams, Process Flow
mapping, product / process family assignments, Standard Work
Definitions, and Resource calculations. These steps
are taken with the intent of linking and balancing workflows.
But until recently, the implementation of flow and the achieving
of its benefits has been focused exclusively on manufacturing.
In 1999, the team members
of the Business Process Consulting Group (BPCG) identified
that the benefits of Flow Processing could be extended to
many administrative activities associated with the entire
manufacturing process. Our first Administrative Flow implementation
took place when we partnered with a California Medical Device
manufacturer. Since then, our Administrative Flow practice
has spread worldwide across all business and industry sectors
